I have to admit, i wasn’t to sold on Oscar de la Hoya’s recent declarations about Bob Arum and Manny Pacquiao during his recent rehabilitation.    But now, after he came clean on the photos that were published of him in lingerie, i’m a believer. I myself have been a big supporter of change during the last couple of months. I’ve been going through difficult times, but nothing compared to what this guy is dealing with.

Being a public figure as Oscar is, he has more responsibility about his acts than many of us.   De la Hoya always had this clean cut image that was admired throughout the world.   With the recent situations concerning  his lifestyle, his image could’ve been tarnished for good.   But he has taken the right steps.  Clearing his demons, coming out clean and doing things one step at a time is the right way to do this, and i really admire this.

Admitting cocaine usage and alcohol abuse takes some real balls.   Remember that the biggest problem he is dealing with is not his public image, but his marriage to Millie and the image he is giving to his children.      Family is first and that is the biggest thing he must be dealing with.   He seems to love his wife, and he seems to appreciate the value of family integrity.   I follow him on Twitter, and sometimes feel disgusted with some of his tweets.   They seemed forced, desperate and sometimes depressive.   But now, after learning a little bit more about his private life, i can understand his feelings.    Addictions are tough and can ruin anybodies life,  i hope everything is well for Oscar and he manages to come out of this in one piece.
