Blackberry 10 looking quite good

New videos and images have emerged on the net these last couple of days showing us a little bit more of what we can expect from the often postponed Blackberry 10 OS. What these new media suggests is that RIM may have a chance afterall. The new Blackberry OS looks very promising as it succeedes in differentiating itself from the Androids and iOS’s from the world. Most mobile operating systems seem to be a copy of the iOS environment and fail to impress as they look much the same. The ones who manage to be different are often clunky and ugly (Windows anybody?).

The new RIM OS has a feature called the Blackberry Hub in which you always have access to any type of messages from any service available, say Facebook, BBM, email or SMS to mention a few. Its an app that’s always open. Another imprssive feature is the way you switch from app to app. When you have apps open you see mini versions of them on the desktop giving you quick access to information you may need. Predictable text or predictable writting may be the most impressive of its new features. RIM’s engineers have managed to make a system that predicts which letter you are going to write next based on your writting habits. This doesn’t mean it writes it for you, it means it writes it when you click the next letter no matter if you miss it or not, taking away the problem of miscalculating or clicking the wrong character ( we all have that problem withtouch based qwerty’s ). This works impressively well!

Lets hope RIM doesn’t take forever to release the new BB10 as it may fall behind and miss an opportunity to keep some of its customers ( who are quickly migrating to other brands) and build on their new system.
