Youtube app as bad as Maps

Since last week, users of the popular smart phone, the iPhone have been struggling with its newest update to its operating system: iOS 6. With this new update the iPhone lost two native apps that have been integrated to the system ever since it was released in 2007 with the first iPhone. The first and more noticable app is Maps which has been “upgraded” to a newer in house maps app that is flashier but less accurate than the previous version powered by Google Maps. Much has been said about the innacuracys of this app and has suddenly become the laughing stock of the tech world.

It’s easy to kick on Apple but one must know that this isnt all their fault as they tried to negotiate with Google to upgrade the app for this and future releases. Negotiations went down and Apple had to develop their own mpping system with the help of Tom Tom. The result is a gorgeous app that fails to work as advertised. Beautiful but dumb. It isnt all bad news for users as the app does up the previous one with turn to turn directions and a new vector system that loads it faster. Be sure that Apple will release newer versions through time addresing user problems.

An app that people dont seem to be talking about is Youtube. This app also saw itself dissapearing with Apple’s latest update. Youtube’s native iPhone app was looking long in the tooth and hadn’t upgraded throughout its time as an integrated app.

With iOS 6 Apple finally released the app to be developed independentely as a stand alone app. This doesn’t seem to have worked as well as we expected as the new app is clunkier and glitchier than ever. Its practically useless. Putting in landscape mode makes the app crash or makes a video start over.

We hope the You Tube and Maps applications get a complete overhaul and finally start working as the iPhone users won’t be happy with this kind of usage problems.

  1. You are right on the money. Both of the new apps are terrible. Not worthy of Apple.
