Breaking Bad “Fifty One” review
Breaking Bad is getting better and better as we can now feel the beginning of the end. Its coming and we know how it will. Without giving anything away, things have gotten real tough for Walter White and his new business venture as personal problems are growing and maybe something else maybe already brewing (as hinted by the season’s opening scene). Fifty One marks the one year in show time frame as it all started with Walt’s birthday 5 seasons ago when he turned fifty. Now fifty one we get a real feeling of how fast things have turned around for his family and now faces deeper and bigger problems. **SPOILERS AHEAD***
Skyler is scared, and now becoming mentally ill as we noted with her attempt to drown herself. Walt was talking about all that’s happened during this year and how Skyler has been a fundemental part in his recovery and succesful ventures in their new car wash business. Skyler is now in complete panic mode as she fears for her childrens safety. Now that she learns that Waltis back in the meth cooking business she feels a sense of urgency of getting their children out of this unhealthy environment. Walts asures Skyler that things couldnt be better and that all threats to their safety were gone when Gus Fringe was killed. Skyler doesn’t buy it.
Back in the Lab things arent going smoothly as there are still links to Gus’ empire that are being investigated by the DEA. Linda is very scared and is planning ways of getting out. Her failed attempt to fool Jesse and Mike that the police put a GPS tracking device in the chemical barrel may cost her her life, my guess is that Walt saved her after Jesse congratulates him for his brilliant plan. Mike is trying to do his job but Walt’s ego driven bossiness doesn’t let him. Things dont smell good in this new relationship between them. Jesse and Walt seem to be better than ever as he even gives him a birthday gift. Al least for now.
Overall it was a very good episode that keeps us in track to the inveitable fall down of Walt’s mini empire. Lets see what the second half of the first half of the fifth season brings.
